Introductions

We have a nine year old daughter, who has a ton of attitude, but is naive and very pure.
Yesterday, while making dinner, we were talking about cute things. Little brother, who is 4, was playing with his cars. He said: “that isn’t cute for me, Elijah (his best friend) is cute for me.”
Daughter: “Oh you are turning into such a girl!”
Me: “Sweetie, did you know that there are boys who like boys and girls who like girls?”
Daughter: “As in- Love?”
Me: “Yes. There are probably kids in your class right now who feel that way, but are probably too nervous or scared to talk about it.”
Daughter: silence. wide eyes. walks away.

It’s a start.
